Are you passionate about governance, compliance, and making a strategic impact across a growing multi‑academy trust? We are seeking a highly professional and proactive Company Secretary to join our central team. This is a pivotal role, reporting directly to the CEO, leading the trust’s governance services. Amethyst Academies Trust (AAT) is a multi‑academy trust based in Wolverhampton and Telford, dedicated to transforming lives through exceptional education. The Trust oversees a family of schools, including Aldersley High School, Moreton School, Telford Park School, Penn Hall School, and Tettenhall Wood School. AAT’s mission is to provide pathways to success for every student, fostering environments where all learners—regardless of background—can thrive and achieve their highest potential.
You will oversee all aspects of governance effectiveness and compliance, ensuring our trust meets statutory and regulatory requirements. You will provide strategic leadership for governance support services, act as lead adviser on governance matters, and drive best practice across the trust.
You will have experience of governance, managing multiple diaries, and coordinating meetings and events. You will be highly organised, detail‑oriented, and able to work independently and as part of a team. Effective communication skills and the ability to influence senior staff are essential. Experience in governance, compliance, or clerking is desirable.
Our Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All roles involving regulated activity are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, and shortlisted candidates will be required to disclose all relevant convictions and cautions, including those considered spent (unless protected under the Exceptions Order 1975, as amended). An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, including barred list information, will be undertaken prior to appointment. It is a criminal offence for a barred individual to apply for a role involving regulated activity. We follow the statutory guidance outlined in Keeping Children Safe in Education (DfE, 2025) and adhere to safer recruitment practices in line with the Education Act 2002 and the Children Act 1989.
