Qualifications

Job description
Purpose

The Manchester United Foundation works in some of the most disadvantaged areas taking Manchester United to the heart of the community.

The Street Reds project uses the power of football to give young people an opportunity to pursue their interest in playing, leading, and coaching the game as well as supporting the participation in educational and diversionary activities.

These free sessions are aimed at young people aged 8-18 and promote inclusivity, provide regular physical activity opportunities and the ability to feel valued as part of a group. Enriching the lives of those who might become isolated. The sessions assist in developing a range of soft skills, increasing social mobility through inter-project tournaments, employment and volunteer opportunities.

The Role

The main responsibility of the role is to coordinate delivery of the Street Reds, Reds Mentoring and other community programmes through football coaching and youth engagement activities on evening projects. Minimum expectation is to be actively working 3 evenings a week to support staff at sessions and to ensure quality assurance is maintained throughout the season.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate high quality Street Reds sessions including support of casual staff and managing venues
  • Support coordination of Youth Engagement & Mentoring programme including referrals
  • To coordinate and devise high quality, impactful workshops to improve participants’ personal development
  • Coordinate events, qualification courses, workshops and social action projects
  • Establish and maintain relationships with partners, stakeholders
  • Actively seek additional funding and partnering opportunities
  • Monitoring and reporting to track progress of programmes to ensure objectives are met
  • Collate all relevant data, information and evidence to support funding conditions and any required reports
  • Governance – consent forms, venue bookings, Service Level Agreements are robust, agreed and valid
  • Uphold and promote the Foundation’s Safeguarding policy working in conjunction with Manchester United Foundation safeguarding team
  • Provide ongoing training and support to casual workforce
  • Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the purpose of the role and its level of responsibility, including the need to work flexible hours and travel.
The Person
Education & Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum FA Level 2 Coaching In Football (UEFA C) or equivalent required
  • FA Safeguarding qualification (valid)
  • FA Emergency Aid qualification or equivalent (valid)
  • A full clean driving licence

Desirable:

  • Youth Work qualification
Experience
  • A minimum of three years’ experience working with children and young people, preferably within a charitable, school or sporting environment.
  • Experience of managing partnerships and programmes, demonstrating a passion for innovation, creativity and excellence.
  • Proven record of developing and supporting individuals aligned to strategic goals, policy and relevant training.
  • Experience of devising, delivering, monitoring and evaluating a variety of projects.
