Job description
About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity to join a small but dedicated team of individuals working to conserve and protect the special qualities of East Devon National Landscape (EDNL). The team works across a wide range of areas, developing and delivering projects that support communities, nature, farming, climate, access, diversity and inclusion. Our strategic themes are Nature, Climate, People and Place. This role provides an excellent opportunity for growth and professional development.

You will lead the implementation of a communication strategy for the East Devon National Landscape, working with our large network of volunteers, ambassadors, partners and press contacts to develop and deliver the necessary communication and event activities in support of the National Landscape Management Plan 2025-30.

In addition, you will act as a vital link between the National Landscape team and local communities, building relationships and supporting local groups to engage, and participate with, the work of the National Landscape Partnership.

About you

With demonstratable experience developing and implementing a communications strategy, you will have a strong working knowledge of various communication and marketing tools to drive engagement and participation with the East Devon National Landscape, with a particular focus on website and social media management.

Self-driven and proactive, you will have a track record of supporting or leading advocacy campaigns and communicating information to a variety of audiences through various means (e.g. print, social media, website). This knowledge and experience will ideally be coupled with event organisation and delivery skills, to take the lead on delivering our Ambassador programme and drive support for the wider National Landscape Management Plan.

A valid driving license to facilitate travel throughout the district is essential (reasonable adjustments may be possible in accordance with the Equality Act).

About us

Our recent Local Government Association Peer Challenge highlighted that 'EDDC is a great place to work, with engaged staff and members' and that's certainly true! You will be part of a Gold Investors in People (IiP) organisation which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment in which people want to live, work, visit and enjoy now, and for future generations. And with our wide range of health and wellbeing benefits, our highly flexible and collaborative hybrid Worksmart working arrangements as well as our commitment to continuous learning and development, you can be confident of joining a dedicated community of colleagues who are Happy, Healthy and Here.
