PURPOSE

This is an exciting opportunity for a commercial law specialist to join our tightknit in house legal team. Youll work closely with teams across the company to provide practical business-focused legal advice and help shape how we do things. From negotiating contracts to supporting compliance and developing clear helpful policies youll play a key part in keeping our business running smoothly and responsibly.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Draft review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements including supplier contracts service agreements licensing agreements and e-commerce-related terms.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of compliance programmes particularly in relation to:
    • Data privacy
    • Supply chain due diligence (e.g. modern slavery ESG-related compliance)
    • Advertising and consumer protection laws
    • Anti-bribery and corruption regulations
  • Provide legal advice to internal teams (e.g. Brand People Business Development IT Business Insights Finance Retail Social Commerce Customer Service) in a commercially aware solution-oriented manner.
  • Assist in the rollout and communication of legal policies training and compliance documentation across the business.
  • Help manage contract lifecycle processes maintain legal templates and ensure contract hygiene across systems and stakeholders.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the fashion and retail sector and support the business in adapting accordingly.
  • Coordinate with external counsel where needed on compliance or commercial issues.
  • Provide legal advice to smaller companies in the group on an ad hoc basis.
THE PERSON
  • Law degree and admission to practice in the UK.
  • 3-5 years of post-qualification experience ideally in a law firm or in‑house legal team.
  • Solid grounding in commercial contract law and compliance frameworks.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent drafting skills.
  • Confidence in communicating legal concepts clearly to non‑legal stakeholders from store staff to directors.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
  • A commercial mindset and a collaborative approach.
HOURS

We actively encourage our teams to have a good work/life balance and so we are pleased to offer flexible working shifts at Fred Perry HQ. Our core shift hours are from 10am 4.30pm and so employees can choose to start and finish early or start and finish late. (i.e. work 8:00am‑4:30pm or 10:00am‑6:30pm etc). We also have 30‑minute early finish on Fridays.

As we continue to work in a more flexible way the Head Office acts a brand hub where we can all connect and collaborate with one another. This role is a mix of office based (London) and remote working. We will expect the employee to come into the office regularly for face‑to‑face meetings and to work alongside their team on collaborative projects.
