Responsibilities

  • Assist with procurement of subcontractor packages.
  • Support the preparation and issue of subcontract enquiries during tender stages.
  • Ensure subcontractors receive the correct documentation to return accurate pricing.
  • Review and compare subcontractor quotations.
  • Help prepare subcontractor contracts and scopes of work.
  • Work with the Commercial Manager to resolve commercial queries.
  • Assist with subcontractor accounts and payment processes.
  • Contribute to cost reporting and budget tracking.

Overview

Recruit Build is working with a leading developer of care homes across the UK to recruit a Commercial Assistant for their Leeds-based team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop their career in construction, working within a high-performing commercial team on a strong pipeline of projects.

The Role

As Commercial Assistant, you will support the Commercial Department across various live developments, assisting with procurement, subcontractor engagement, and cost tracking. You'll work closely with the Commercial Manager and gain exposure to all key areas of commercial construction management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with procurement of subcontractor packages
  • Support the preparation and issue of subcontract enquiries during tender stages
  • Ensure subcontractors receive the correct documentation to return accurate pricing
  • Review and compare subcontractor quotations
  • Help prepare subcontractor contracts and scopes of work
  • Work with the Commercial Manager, Directors, and Site Teams to resolve any commercial queries
  • Assist with subcontractor accounts and payment processes
  • Contribute to cost reporting and budget tracking for the Finance Team
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience in a commercial, buying, or admin role within the construction industry (preferred)
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills
  • Confident communicator able to work across departments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Office; knowledge of SAGE 200 is an advantage
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to progress within a commercial role
