A vacancy at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. A shift/team leader role providing clinical leadership and management support, developing and evaluating best practice within the department. The post-holder will deputise for the department manager as required.

A position has arisen on Ward 34 for a Band 6 clinical ward sister/charge nurse. Previous experience within haematology is essential, and the successful applicant must be competent in the delivery of chemotherapy and have an assessor qualification. Ward 34 is the tertiary centre for Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment of patients with haematological malignancies requiring intensive inpatient chemotherapy. We are an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant Centre, Haemophilia Treatment Centre and Haemoglobinopathy Centre.

The ward provides inpatient, day case and clinic facilities in one place to minimise exposure of immunocompromised patients. Staff work in a dynamic multidisciplinary team. The majority of inpatients have haematological malignancies or related complications, with additional expertise in other complex patient groups, including bleeding disorders and sickle cell disease. We deliver curative and palliative treatments and support patients throughout their journey, including end of life care.
All nurses are trained in or are receiving training in venepuncture, cannulation, management of tunneled CVCs and delivery of chemotherapy and stem cells. Ward 34 is a busy ward with strong patient relationships.
