A leading NHS Healthcare Trust in Greater London is seeking a Clinical Safety Officer to oversee clinical risk management processes. The role involves conducting risk assessments, collaborating with healthcare teams, and ensuring compliance with national standards in digital healthcare systems. Ideal candidates should have experience in clinical safety and digital systems. This is a critical position to support the Trust’s digital transformation initiatives.
The Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) position is a specialist digital clinical patient safety role within the London Northwest Healthcare NHS Trust (LNWH) Clinical & Digital landscape. The post holder will administer the Clinical Risk Management (CRM) activities as required by Health and Social Care Act 2012 Standard DCB0160 to support the safe development, introduction, deployment, maintenance and deconditioning of Clinical Digital Systems (CDS).
As part of the Clinical and Digital teams the individual will further embed the CRM process within the organisation and will initially be integral in reviewing legacy and current clinical digital systems. Maintaining strong links with the Trust Patient Safety team. The post-holder will support staff to gain the skills required to undertake appropriate levels of CRM work ensuring clinical digital safety is understood and facilitated wherever appropriate within the organisation. The CSO will hold overall responsibility for the CRM processes and Clinical Safety Cases required for each CDS.
The CSO will engage with the wider healthcare landscape within North West London, London and nationally to maximise the efficiency and economy of CDS for our shared patients and as directed by NHS or relevant guidance or requirements. The purpose of this role is to ensure that safety is maintained throughout the lifecycle of the digital transformation projects, to support the Trust’s digital roadmap. In doing so, the Clinical Safety Officer (CSO) will ensure the Trust is compliant with the NHS clinical risk management DCB0160 standard – deployment and use of health IT systems. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring that all IT health systems procured and implemented by the Trust conform to DCB 0129 “Clinical Risk Management: its Application in the Manufacture of Health Systems”.
In carrying out this role, the postholder will work closely with other CSOs in the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) to contribute to shared Clinical Risk Management activities. The Trust EPR is a shared domain across four organisations.
