This is an opportunity to develop skills within a specialist area and build confidence in working with service users who have experienced psychological trauma or bereavement. The role has arisen to cover maternity leave, with potential involvement in continuing development and delivery of a specialist birth trauma and perinatal loss service.

The Lotus Maternal Therapeutic Outreach Service launched in June 2021 as a pilot site to develop a Maternal Mental Health Service (MMHS) as part of the NHS Long Term Plan. We are now an established MMHS Service that often offers consultation and training for developing MMHS services and external agencies. This opportunity is available to be part of developing the service.

Responsibilities
  • Provide specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment within the perinatal trauma and loss context.
  • Deliver trauma-informed care, with EMDR and trauma-focused CBT experience being desirable, though not essential.
  • Work with a range of professionals, services, and agencies across the Norfolk and Waveney area, linking maternity services with mental health services, including the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team, Children's Services and local organisations.
  • Contribute to the continued development and delivery of the specialist birth trauma and perinatal loss service.
  • Supervise other members of the multidisciplinary team and participate in clinical supervision.
  • Supervise Trainee Clinical Psychologists on placement within the team, as part of links with the UEA Doctorate in Clinical Psychology training programme.
  • Travel across the county; being a car driver is essential.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Post: Clinical Psychologist (8a) for a 12-month fixed term or secondment.
  • Experience or interest in perinatal services and perinatal mental health; willingness to learn about perinatal trauma and loss.
  • Ability to provide specialist psychological interventions and supervision within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to travel across the county; a valid driver’s license is essential.
Service Context

The Lotus service covers the whole of Norfolk and Waveney and provides a link between maternity services and other services involved in mental health care for women. This includes collaboration with the Perinatal Community Mental Health Team, Children’s Services and local community organisations.
