A leading health service provider in High Wycombe is seeking a Clinical Practice Educator. The successful candidate will lead mentorship within the Specialist Practice Leadership Team, providing support and collaboration across urgent and primary care settings. The role involves providing clinical advice, conducting educational support for Trainee SPs, and ensuring high levels of care. Essential qualifications include a Master’s degree and registration with an appropriate professional body, as well as two years of Band 7 experience.

This exciting role will provide high quality mentorship and support to an area team as part of the Specialist Practice Leadership Team within SCAS. This role will also involve collaborative and portfolio working opportunities, across a multitude of urgent and primary care settings and internal projects. The role also includes working within our clinical communications centres and 111 to give clinical advice in connection with calls directly linked to our 999 work.
Clinical Practice Educators will use their knowledge and skills to provide clinical mentorship and educational support to Trainee SPs whilst they undertake their University modules and supported shifts working both frontline and within clinical collaborative partnerships. They will also support NQSPs whilst they complete their SP portfolio.
It’s really important for us to ensure you have the best onboarding experience which allows you to feel a sense of belonging from the start. To help with this, we will book your Corporate Induction as soon as we possibly can (depending on availability).
All new starters need to attend our Corporate Induction in person, this is held over one and half days from our educational centres based in : Newbury (Berkshire), Bicester (Oxfordshire) or Whiteley (Hampshire). More specific details will be sent to you once your start date has been confirmed.
Please note – depending on your role additional training may be required following on from your corporate induction.
As a CPE you will self roster your working time. You will be expected to work as required to support your team and this will include shifts across the shift pattern your team works in both frontline and collaborative projects. You will work as part of an area SP Leadership Team.
The CPEs also work as an independent clinician and would be responsible for the care of the patient including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, discharge and / or referral. The CPE will be responsible for administering and supplying medicines, in line with Patient Group Directions / Medicines management policy.
You will be expected to demonstrate evidence of taking personal responsibility for your own professional development, clinical leadership in an operational environment and have a strong desire to support and guide colleagues in other clinical roles. Applicants should be able to display sound clinical knowledge including evidence of history taking and clinical triage in a sensitive manner, providing assessment, advice and treatment in line with clinical protocols and using professional judgement, and to show that they can work as part of a team or autonomously.
Short listed candidates will be required to attend a panel interview and to undertake a clinical assessment / presentation, as well as providing evidence of their CPD portfolio.
