Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated Upper GI team. You will provide consistent, safe, effective and quality care to provide holistic support to patients diagnosed with Upper GI conditions. You will have responsibility and accountability for supporting a caseload of patients throughout their pathway from initial referral, through diagnostics to diagnosis and to patients living with and beyond their diagnosis. If you are a highly motivated, compassionate team member with excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, we would like to hear from you. The role is a full time role and will require working flexibly to support existing service with adapting hours to cover leave and other absences to ensure full service provision.

Responsibilities
  • You will provide clinical excellence, leadership, innovation and mastery within a specialty, or group of specialties, through highly developed specialist knowledge in Upper GI conditions.
  • You will holistically assess and plan care for patients with complex needs, planning, evaluating, coordinating, and communicating care to streamline and support patients through their pathway.
  • You will work autonomously alongside the multi-disciplinary team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital and have a presence at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital NHS Trust as the tertiary centre.
  • You will lead the development and support of MDT, nursing, and allied health professionals, acting as an expert resource.
  • You will lead service development and have active involvement in Cancer Care Alliance and Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS), and local teams.
  • You will act as keyworker for patients to ensure a single point of contact during a highly complex pathway.
  • You will engage in highly complex conversations and dialogue with patients and carers, considering learning needs and Mental Capacity, utilising advanced communication skills.
  • You will be able to manage distressing situations with patients, carers and companions.
  • Role is full time and will require working flexibly to support existing service, adapting hours to cover leave and other absences to ensure full service provision.
