Job summary

A leading children's health facility is seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Gastro Allergy Team. In this role, you will work with a multidisciplinary team to manage children with Eosinophilic infiltration and multi-system allergic diseases. You will assess and plan treatment while ensuring excellent patient care and involvement in multidisciplinary clinics. Job overview

The Gastro Allergy Team at Great Ormond Street Hospital is a multidisciplinary Service specialising in the diagnosis, evaluation, management, and care of children 0- 18yrs with Eosinophilic infiltration of the digestive tract. Complex atopic disease affecting gastro intestinal function as well as complex multi system allergic disease.

This is an exciting time for Great Ormond Street Hospital, following the transition of tertiary care patients from the Royal Free Hospital this has led to this permanent WTE Band 7 Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the service.

The Gastrointestinal-Allergy-Nutrition-Therapy Service (GIANTS) is currently staffed by our specialist team of Consultant Paediatric Gastrologists, A Paediatric Allergy Consultant, A Specialist Fellow, A specialist dietician, A clinical psychologist and 1 Clinical Nurse Specialist.

We work closely with community Medical and Nursing teams in the care of the patient and provide support and education not only for the child and family but other agencies such as schools, local hospitals, and their community services.

Main duties of the job

As the CNS you must possess excellent communication and strong leadership skills to ensure high quality care and a smooth patient journey. Some of the key duties is to be the first port of call for the children and families under our service. To provide an active role in MDT clinics and weekly MDT discussions. To attend and support clinics. Assess and help plan for the treatment and management of children with Eosinophilic and multi system allergic disease including allergy testing, oral food challenges, and medication and symptom assessment.

We also work closely with other specialist teams, Social Work, inpatient clinical areas, all Gastroenterology consultants and medical teams, ward nurses, Matron, Associate Chief Nurse for BBM and trust visitors.
