Clinical Engineering Technician

University Hospitals Dorset have a vacancy for a Clinical Engineering Technician based at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital.

The duties will include troubleshooting and repair, asset management, commissioning of new equipment, and routine scheduled maintenance to medical and communications devices.

An HND/B Eng. or equivalent level of qualification and knowledge is required. This should be demonstrated through several years experience within relevant electronics, engineering, communications fields, with additional post qualification training via manufacturer courses and experience.

Relevant post qualification work experience in the servicing, repair and calibration of electronic equipment is required. Knowledge and experience of Medical equipment maintenance would be desirable, as would radio communications maintenance.

You will be expected to be able to demonstrate self motivation, the upholding of professional standards, be conscientious and well organised in your approach.

You will be working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a frequent requirement to travel to sites across Dorset as necessary.

Applicants that do not entirely meet the Personal Specification criteria may be offered the post at Band 4.

Main duties of the job

The Clinical Engineering Department is part of University Hospitals Dorset NHS Trust, and is responsible for the maintenance and repair of a diverse range of medical equipment for two General Hospitals, and many Healthcare facilities in East Dorset. The Bournemouth based team comprises 7 staff, each playing an important role in ensuring that the Trust's medical devices are safely maintained.

Qualifications
