Job description
Overview

A Vacancy at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.

Are you a passionate Health Care Assistant looking to work nights only? Join our Dorset Integrated Urgent Care Service (DIUCS) as part of our supportive Community Night Nursing team. You will be joining a fantastic team within the Clinical Assessment and Treatment Service to support and assist Community Night Nursing during overnight mobile visits to patients in their own homes.

You will be working in pairs with a registered nurse as part of a supportive and collaborative unit. You will communicate clearly and effectively with patients, families and carers, assisting the registered staff in the assessment of health needs and delivery of care, sharing the driving of the IUCS vehicles across Dorset, and working in the community, residential or in healthcare environments. The vehicles are stocked with essential nursing equipment, including catheters, wound dressings, and palliative care stock.

Responsibilities
  • Assist registered staff in the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care for individuals or groups of patients, including clinical risk assessment.
  • Exercise a reasonable and agreed degree of autonomy and make judgements and decisions to meet job expectations.
  • Undertake clinical work and related tasks as delegated by registered nursing staff, following appropriate training and assessment of competency.
  • Engage in clinical supervision in line with Trust policy to develop competence and clinical practice.
  • Liaise effectively with all stakeholders in the care process.
  • Support driving and operation of IUCS vehicles during overnight shifts.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Part-time post of 34.5 hours per week, 20:00 to 08:00 over 3 nights. Part-time applications with a minimum of 23 hours per week over 2 nights are welcome. Rota patterns can be discussed at interview.
  • Full valid UK driving license is essential for the role.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required; the Trust will cover the cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
  • Applications from candidates requiring Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply.
