Job summary

A construction consulting firm is seeking an experienced Clerk of Works (Repairs & Maintenance) to oversee contractor work and ensure quality standards in building maintenance. Applicants should have a strong knowledge of building defects, compliance legislation, and safety regulations. The role is based in Kent with a flexible day rate. Ideal candidates will hold an HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent and possess substantial experience in similar roles.

Clerk of Works (Repairs & Maintenance) INTERIM

Reports to: Reactive Works Team Leader

Location (Office / Remote) KENT

££ : Flexible Day Rate

ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
  • A working knowledge of building maintenance and contracting relationships
  • A good working knowledge of building defects and how to identify the best repair options
  • A thorough understanding of the causes and remedies of dampness in buildings
  • Sound understanding of compliance with statutory landlord obligations and associated legislation in particular the Decent Homes Standard
  • Able to oversee contractors work to achieve good quality work to time and budget
  • Knowledge of building standards and producing technical specifications for works
  • Knowledge of Asbestos, Electrical and Gas safety regulations
  • Knowledge of relevant Health & Safety standards in particular the revised CDM 2015 regulations
  • An understanding of current procurement processes and regulations
  • Principles of Risk Assessments and Method Statements and their role in Repairs and Maintenance
Qualification
  • HNC / HND in Building Surveying or other relevant construction management qualification
