A local government council in Scotland is looking for an enthusiastic clerical assistant to support Blackburn Primary School and its nursery. The role requires strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit to enhance the student experience. The position is part-time, working 11 hours per week across the school year, with a focus on building a nurturing environment. Candidates must be willing to undergo a PVG Scheme check.
11 hours per week, 39 weeks per year, Fixed term until 13 April 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our learning community within Blackburn Primary School. BlackburnPrimary School and Hopefield Nursery class is a non-denominational school catering for Nursery to P7, situated in theBlackburnarea of West Lothian and is part of theBathgateLearning Community. The school works hard to provide an inclusive and nurturing environment for children and their families.
The school role is currently 98 pupils split into 5 school and 2 ASN classes. There are 81 children in the nursery. The school is staffed by a skilled and motivated team consisting of the Head teacher, DHT, 2 PTs, teaching and non teaching staff, working together to support and challenge learners across the school and nursery. Our parents are very supportive of the school and through regular opportunities parents engage in the wider life of the school and have provided effective feedback to move our school forward. Our free breakfast club is well attended.
We are seeking an enthusiastic clerical assistant to support across the school and nursery. Good communication skills are essential and you should enjoy working as part of a team. The post holder will work in partnership with all stakeholders within Blackburn Primary School to ensure a high quality student experience.
This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
