Job description
Overview

There is an exciting opportunity for a Cleaner to support our services at St Leonards Hospital. This post is 12 hours per week, 5.00pm to 8:00pm (times can be adjusted).

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a high standard of cleanliness in a clinical ward based environment and in non-clinical areas throughout the main hospital
  • Ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment is maintained
  • Vacuuming, mopping, general cleaning and damp dusting
  • Cleaning bathrooms and toilets, emptying bins, and use of mechanical floor cleaning machines
  • Support the Facilities Supervisor in implementing and maintaining the standard of cleanliness
  • Work as part of a team with a flexible approach, good communication, and the ability to use your own initiative
  • Opportunities to work extra hours to cover sickness and staff holidays
Requirements and Conditions

Employment requires a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate in lieu of a new check.

Good pay rates with 27 days annual leave per year to start, plus bank holidays and weekend enhancements if required. Visa sponsorship for this role is not available. Please ensure you have valid right to work in the UK and will not require sponsorship if successful.

This post is part of the Facilities & Estates, with potential transfer to an NHS wholly owned subsidiary within the next 6–12 months. The subsidiary will continue to offer NHS Agenda for Change Terms and Conditions, including NHS pensions, for transferring staff and new employees recruited after the transfer date in 2026.
