Job description

Here at GXO Logistics Coventry we are looking for HGV Class 1 Drivers to join our transport team, supporting our customer Halfords. You will be part of a supportive team that goes the extra mile, helping you stay confident on the road and grow in your driving career.

You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis, on an ‘any 5 out of 7 days’ pattern, with start times window of 02:00 to 04:00, contracted to 48 hours per week. The role follows an 8 week rolling rota, consisting of: 4 weeks working Monday to Friday, 3 weeks working Tuesday to Saturday and 1 week working Tuesday to Friday.

Pay, benefits and more:

  • An hourly rate of £18.20, that is an annual salary of £45,444.78
  • An additional £51.99 for Saturday and Sunday
  • £475.77 annual responsibility allowance
  • 31 days annual leave (including Bank Holidays)

  • On-going annual CPC training

What you will do on a typical day:

  • Deliver palletised goods using single & double deck or curtain lorries to retail stores on multidrop basis, averaging 6 drops per shift
  • Maintain accurate driving/working time records using the Tachomaster system and manual entries to record all working hours as required by the WTD regulations
  • Operate company vehicles in a safe, legal, and efficient manner
  • Ensure all products are checked off the vehicle and the customer receive the correct products and delivery documentation

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Full UK driving licence with category C+E entitlement
  • Valid Driver Qualification and Digital Tachograph Cards
  • No more than 6 current penalty points
  • No DR, DG, DD, BA, CD, AC, LC or TT99 endorsements
  • Previous experience driving category C+E vehicles is essential
