Job Description

Elvet Recruitment is recruiting for an experienced Design Engineer / Senior Design Engineer on behalf of a civil engineering / water main contractor. This reputable Water / Utilities contractor is growing and in need of a Design Engineer or Senior to supplement their expanding in-house design team. The work primarily covers the Yorkshire Water framework, with potential involvement on United Utilities projects. This contractor has a turnover of over £500m and is established internationally, known for large/heavy civil engineering, water, tunnelling, and structures.

The successful Engineer will be responsible for in-house design and coordinating external design consultancies on civil engineering works, including major water treatment works and storm tanks, with projects ranging from £500k to over £20m. The role is based out of an office in Leeds, with regular site visits, offering hybrid working and flexibility.

Duties as Design Engineer:

1. Detailed design work on water projects: waste water and clean water.
2. Allocating and managing CAD output from technicians.
3. Representing the company in meetings with clients and stakeholders.
4. Undertaking site visits to gather information and data.
5. Collaborating with Project Managers to ensure smooth delivery on site.
6. Reviewing documentation and drawings.

Experience Required as Design Engineer:

• Experience working as a Design Engineer for a civil engineering contractor delivering heavy civil engineering projects.
• Experience dealing with clients and external stakeholders.
• Ideally, knowledge of wastewater design, including attenuation, drainage, and balancing.
• Fluent IT and English writing skills.
• Experience with AutoCAD is beneficial.

Remuneration: The salary is up to £55,000 (dependent on experience), plus a package including car allowance, pension, fuel scheme, holidays, healthcare, etc.
