Job description

Our cinema manager supports the overall performance of the cinema and helps to make our cinema the first choice for customers within their local market. A key focus will be on creating, developing and managing a high performing team. Using positive coaching and leadership skills to engage a team of a various size to help deliver positive results and drive a profitable cinema. You'll work closely with the senior management and will be accountable to ensure your cinema and team is equipped to support customer demand and the overall customer experience. You'll need good business acumen and positivity and enthusiasm to lead your team to success.

What Will I Be Doing?
  1. Create and embed a positive working culture and lead by example to deliver a positive customer experience and promote an environment that values diversity and inclusion
  2. Implement the cinema's business plan, objectives and KPIs for team members to deliver, with regular reviews and updates on performance to the team and business
  3. Look at opportunities in film schedules to maximise opportunities in cinema performance against targets, taking any appropriate action to generate positive results
  4. Monitor customer attendance forecast figures and ensure subsequent staff hours are flexed and managed as required
  5. Regularly liaise with screen content team to ensure content is delivered on time, in working order, and scheduled accordingly in the screening rooms
  6. Manage, coach and support the cinema team giving them regular feedback on their performance to deliver KPIs and objectives
  7. Recognise high performers and support their career development and progression
  8. Communicate incentive plans to the cinema team and provide regular updates to motivate performance
  9. Conduct regular performance reviews, including probationary reviews, focusing on objectives, strengths, and development areas
  10. Manage under-performing team members through monitoring and reviews
  11. Support delivery of training sessions, refreshers, and workshops to upskill team members and ensure compliance with policies (e.g., GDPR, health and safety)
  12. Source, interview, and recruit new team members as needed
  13. Manage staff costs and budgets against forecasts, inputting staff hours via payroll system
  14. Support site maintenance logs to ensure quick response to issues affecting performance
  15. Manage compliance such as fire safety, health & safety, stock replenishment, audits, staff roster, screen checks, and cleaning
  16. Delegate tasks clearly to promote team development and productivity
  17. Attend training workshops and courses to develop knowledge on business and people management
  18. Promote equal access and opportunities for all, ensuring no unjustified discrimination
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in team management or leadership in a customer-facing environment
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service with demonstrable results
  • Strong business acumen with ability to forecast targets and produce reports
  • Good communication skills, confident in delegating tasks
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Experience in people management (employee relations, performance reviews, recruitment, payroll)
  • Proficient in IT (Excel, MS Office) and familiar with cinema technology (Till points, ticket scanners)
  • Lead by example, respectful, approachable
  • A team player supporting colleagues and daily tasks
  • Passion for film and cinema industry
