Overview

Ackerman Pierce is supporting a leading local authority within Southend to recruit for a Social Worker for the Children with Disabilities Team on a permanent basis, salary £39,152 - £45,091 per annum.

Our client has a well-structured and organised team that is looking to grow staffing levels. The role offers flexible working hours and a supportive team culture with regular supervision on cases. Southend is embedding a systemic approach and is undergoing changes focused on reducing caseloads and improving outcomes for families. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and supportive team.

Responsibilities
  • Work with children with disabilities, their families and other agencies to meet assessed needs and support them to achieve their potential.
  • Carry out assessment, planning and interventions with Children in Need, Children Looked After and Children in need of Protection, as well as young people preparing for adulthood.
  • Undergo a Social Work qualification and demonstrate an understanding of the impact of disability on children's lives.
  • Be passionate about making a difference and use creative and personalised approaches alongside the team\'s Signs of Safety and My Plan approach to achieve positive outcomes for children.
  • Work in partnership with disabled children and their families, as well as colleagues in Education, Health, the Voluntary & Community sector, and wider Children\'s and Lifelong Services.
  • Prepare and submit written reports as required, including statements and care plans for care proceedings in the Family Proceedings, County and High Courts.

Minimum Requirements

  • Knowledge & Experience: prior experience within the children with disabilities team; knowledge of child protection, Looked After Children (LAC) and related social work practices; knowledge and understanding of the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families (e.g., attachment theory, enabling change, behaviour management).
