Job summary

A healthcare staffing agency is seeking Support Workers in Leeds to provide high-quality care and support for children and young people in a residential care home. The ideal candidate will have experience in care, strong communication skills, and an NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care. This role requires 12-hour shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, with a competitive hourly rate of £12.50.

About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join our team in providing high-quality care to children and young people in a residential care home setting. You will play a vital role in supporting their emotional, physical, and social development, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day care and supervision for children and young people aged 5-18.
  • Support children with emotional and behavioural needs, including those with trauma backgrounds.
  • Assist with daily routines such as meals, hygiene, school runs, and recreational activities.
  • Build trusting relationships and act as a positive role model.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans and reviews.
  • Work collaboratively with social workers, therapists, and other professionals.
  • Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are followed at all times.
Shift Pattern
  • 12-hour shifts (e.g., 8am-8pm or 8pm-8am)
  • 3-4 days per week on a rolling rota
  • Includes weekends and public holidays on a rotational basis
Requirements
  • Previous experience in a care or support role (children's residential care preferred)
  • NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or willingness to work towards it
  • Enhanced DBS check (required prior to employment)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations
