About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and skilled Child Disability Support Nanny to provide tailored care and support for an 11-year-old child with Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Language Delay, and traits of Autism and OCD. The child has unique needs that require a calm, structured, and adaptable approach, and the nanny will play a pivotal role in supporting their daily routines, development, and emotional well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Autism and OCD Support: Recognize and respond appropriately to autistic traits, including difficulties with social interactions, rigid routines, and sensory sensitivities. Adapt activities and communication to meet the child\'s individual needs. Support and guide the child through OCD tendencies, including repetitive behaviors such as unpacking and replacing the school bag. Work closely with the child to reduce anxiety surrounding these behaviors through consistent, patient support. Create a calm and predictable environment that provides stability, while introducing flexibility when possible to ease transitions and minimize distress.
  • Sibling and Social Support: Provide guidance and support for interactions between the child and their mainstream twin, fostering a positive relationship despite the challenges of their differing needs.
  • Behavioral and Emotional Support: Implement strategies to manage emotional outbursts or frustrations associated with developmental or social challenges. Encourage positive behavior through reinforcement and structured routines. Provide comfort and reassurance when the child experiences distress, focusing on emotional regulation and well-being.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Experience: Previous experience working with children with physical disabilities, autism, OCD, or developmental delays.
  • Experience in supporting a child with Cerebral Palsy, or knowledge of mobility and physical care techniques.
  • Understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and OCD traits and strategies for managing these conditions in children.
  • Personal Attributes: Patience, empathy, and a calm demeanor. Flexible and adaptable to changing routines or needs. Strong communication skills, especially in supporting children with developmental language delays. Ability to stay organized and follow structured routines while remaining flexible in meeting the child\'s individual needs.
