Job Description:

We are currently recruiting for a well-established Chartered Financial Planning practice in Esher who are looking to recruit a Chartered Financial Planner to service their clients. This is an office-based role where clients will come into the office.

Overview of role

Playing a key role in supporting the firm to achieve its business goals alongside the existing Chartered Financial Planners, this individual will be expected to take on responsibility for servicing an allocated number of existing and some longstanding clients.

This is an office-based role for someone who wants to establish and build on their position as a key member of the client team. Client meetings are usually office-based (video during pandemic). The main focus will initially be on delivering high-quality ongoing holistic financial planning and wealth management services to existing clients without the pressure of specific sales targets or the need to develop a personal client bank.

Responsibilities include maintaining and servicing an existing client bank, identifying and developing business opportunities where appropriate, overseeing Account Managers, and assisting the wider team as needed.

This role is suitable for a professional, knowledgeable individual who values the financial planning process and prefers a delivery, advice, and quality-focused role over a sales position.

Responsibilities

  • Providing advice to clients during ongoing service reviews in line with the company's client service proposition.
  • Preparing for and conducting client review meetings, managing post-review actions.
  • Gathering sufficient client information before making recommendations.
  • Undertaking product and market research as needed.
  • Drafting suitability reports or leading report drafting work.
  • Ensuring all clients are contacted according to the agreed service level.
  • Maintaining high-quality audit trails and supporting documents.
  • Constructing and managing investment portfolios according to firm procedures.
  • Ensuring investment decisions align with client objectives and constraints.
  • Reviewing portfolios and advising on rebalancing as appropriate.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of relevant documentation to clients.
  • Carrying out post-client agreement actions and placing trades through the dealing function.
  • Liaising with the Client Team and Account Managers, managing advice and review communications.
  • Maintaining professional competence and SPS at all times.
  • Staying updated with CPD requirements and recording them accurately.

Relevant experience, skills, and knowledge

The ideal candidate will focus on conduct, professionalism, productivity, teamwork, and accuracy, with skills including:

  • Excellent technical skills and adaptability to client needs.
  • Quick thinking and initiative.
  • Team-oriented attitude.
  • Good time management and planning skills.
  • Flexibility and reliability.
  • Client-first approach.

Knowledge of FCA standards and relevant legislation such as data protection, money laundering, and financial crime laws is essential.

Additional skills include positive attitude, understanding of the operating environment, basic IT skills, and drafting abilities.

Qualification requirements

  • Qualified at Chartered Financial Planner level.
  • Experience advising and servicing retail clients.
  • Active SPS.
  • Current or recent certification by an employer.
