Want a role where your expertise genuinely protects lives and shapes better projects?

Our client is a leading consultancy in construction health and safety and CDM risk management, working with some of the UK’s most recognised brands and housing providers. They combine deep technical expertise with a values-driven approach, ensuring every project meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and buildability.

With a strong pipeline of work and a team who are ethical, knowledgeable, progressive, enthusiastic, purposeful, and empathetic, they are now seeking an experienced CDM Principal Designer to join their East Lancashire team.

The Role

This is a hands-on position where you will be out on site, engaging with design teams, running CDM workshops, reviewing technical drawings, and helping shape safer, more buildable projects from the earliest stages. You’ll work across a variety of schemes, from student accommodation and housing developments to commercial fitouts and industrial builds.

What You’ll Do:
  • Deliver Principal Designer duties in line with CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Produce PCI, CDM risk registers, safety files, and client updates.
  • Review design documentation to identify hazards and propose solutions.
  • Facilitate collaborative design and CDM workshops.
  • Conduct site inspections and produce clear, actionable reports.
  • Build strong working relationships with clients, contractors, and duty holders.
What They’re Looking For:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in construction H&S or CDM roles.
  • Strong working knowledge of CDM 2015 and Principal Designer duties.
  • Confident in reviewing technical drawings, reports, and site constraints.
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Essential:
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Able to commute to the East Lancashire office (hybrid: 3 office / 2 home).
  • Legal right to work in the UK without current or future sponsorship.
  • No unspent criminal convictions.
What’s On Offer:
  • £50,000 – £55,000 DOE
  • 28 days holiday + bank holidays + your birthday off
  • Hybrid working (once settled)
  • Early finish Fridays (2pm)
  • Pension contributions
  • Company phone and laptop
  • Mileage allowance at 45p per mile
  • Funded professional memberships
  • A values-driven culture where ‘Making A Difference’ is part of daily life, not just a slogan

If you share these values, believe in doing the right thing, and want to be part of a consultancy that combines technical excellence with a genuine passion for protecting people, our client would like to hear from you.
