  • Salary: 13 per hour

  • Contract: Temporary to permanent options

  • Hours: Part time (10:30am - 1:30pm, Monday to Friday, 15 hours per week)

Catering Assistant Specification

We are currently seeking a reliable Catering Assistant for a part-time role within a Primary School in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a keen eye for cleanliness, a positive attitude, and the ability to work as part of a busy team.

To be considered as a Catering Assistant, you should have experience working in a catering, hospitality, or food preparation role and a commitment to maintaining high standards of hygiene and safety.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the basic preparation of food and refreshments, including some cooking.

  • Support the Kitchen and Catering Supervisor and colleagues during service and school hospitality events.

  • Serve meals and refreshments to pupils and staff in line with school requirements.

  • Assist with the washing up, daily cleaning, and maintenance of the kitchen and equipment.

  • Help with the setting up and clearing away of dining room furniture as needed.

  • Follow all food safety, health and safety, and school policies at all times.

  • Undertake any additional duties as required by the Head Teacher to support the smooth running of the school.

  • Be willing to attend training as required for the role.

Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in a catering or kitchen assistant role (school or similar environment desirable).

  • Ability to work efficiently in a team and follow instructions.

  • A strong focus on hygiene, safety, and professionalism.

  • Flexible, reliable, and enthusiastic about supporting a school community.

  • Enhanced DBS check on the update service (or willingness to apply).
