Job summary

A local housing organisation in Weymouth is seeking a skilled Carpenter to join their maintenance team. The successful candidate will perform carpentry repairs and installations, as well as additional painting and decorating tasks. Strong communication and fault diagnosis skills are essential, alongside NVQ qualification or significant carpentry experience. This full-time role offers a competitive hourly rate of £25.11, working Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week.

Overview

Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Carpenter for our client, a housing organisation based in the south of England. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing quality repair, installation and refurbishment work as required within the maintenance team. Provide exceptional fault diagnosis and good customer service in order to meet the businesses Key Performance Indicators.

Responsibilities

This role is for a carpenter; however the successful candidate must have additional painting and decorating skills. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Be able to carry out general carpentry repairs and installation to a good standard, and to include but not limited to: Hanging Doors, Scarfing, Glazing, Architraves, Skirtings, Kitching Fitting, Maintaining adjusting and fitting garage doors, Changing & fitting locks, uPVC window fitting, Studwork, boxings & bath panels, Locksmith, Stairs & Bannisters, undertake on site risk assessments and identify any potential hazards and inform your line manager if required.
Personal Requirements / Qualifications
  • Carpentry Qualification NVQ or equivalent or previous significant experience in carpentry.
  • Must have additional painting and decorating skills.
  • Ability to diagnose and undertake a repair works to domestic properties including specifying materials required and the ability to undertake works in accordance with training and good industry practice.
  • Competent in the use of smart phone technology and PDAs, including the ability to send and receive email, calendar appointments, documents, photographs and for work scheduling purposes.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with customers, colleagues and others daily both verbally and digitally.
Working Hours

37hrs / 8:00 am - 17:00 pm / Monday to Friday

Pay

£25.11 per hour
