Job description
Overview

At HC-One, kindness is at the heart of everything we do across our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist care homes. Our residents are people with their own stories to tell, and by joining us you’ll have the chance to give something back while helping them live with dignity and purpose. We’re looking for an enthusiastic and committed Care Assistant to join our team. Working under the guidance of a Registered Nurse, you’ll support the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of our residents, including personal care such as washing, dressing, hygiene and meals, as well as helping with daily activities in the home. You’ll deliver care that comes from the heart — making sure residents never lose their individuality. Whether you’re supporting someone with limited mobility, offering comfort to a resident who is distressed, or providing compassionate end-of-life care, you’ll always put their wellbeing first.

Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility and therefore it is important that you are able to recognise the signs which may indicate possible abuse, harm or neglect in its different forms and know what to do if there are any concerns. All colleagues are required to attend safeguarding training appropriate to their role and to undertake additional training in associated areas. You also have the ability to seek appropriate advice and report concerns, including escalation if action is not taken.

This is a full-time position of 44 hours per week on day shifts.

Responsibilities
  • Support the physical, emotional and social wellbeing of residents, including personal care (washing, dressing, hygiene) and meals.
  • Assist with daily activities in the home and provide compassionate, individualised care.
  • Ensure safeguarding is observed, recognise signs of abuse, harm or neglect, and know how to report concerns.
  • Work under the guidance of a Registered Nurse to deliver high-quality care.
  • Respect residents’ individuality and dignity, including during end-of-life care and times of distress.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Ability to recognise signs of safeguarding concerns and to report them appropriately.
  • Completion of safeguarding training appropriate to the role and willingness to undertake additional training.
  • Full right to work in the UK. (We cannot offer sponsorship or accept applications from those on a time-limited visa.)
  • Interest in personal and professional development; willingness to engage with training and development opportunities.
Benefits
  • Great work life balance
  • Hourly rate subject to experience and qualifications
  • Paid Enhanced DBS/PVG
  • Free uniform
  • Nutritious meals during shifts of eight hours or more
  • Company pension scheme
  • 28 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
  • Group life assurance cover
  • Wagestream for financial wellbeing and flexible access to pay
  • Learning and development opportunities and support to achieve qualifications
  • GP online service for around-the-clock consultation
  • Colleague discounts and wellbeing support via an Employee Assistance Programme
  • Recognition schemes such as ‘Kindness in Care’ and Long Service Awards
  • Refer a friend scheme
