Job summary

A leading trading firm in the UK is looking for an experienced professional to manage a trading portfolio and develop trading strategies within the environmental markets. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in carbon markets, a strong analytical background, and excellent communication skills. Job description
Your role & responsibilities
  • Manage your own trading portfolio and run proprietary trading strategies across UK and European Carbon markets (EU ETS, UK ETS, Guarantees of Origin, voluntary credits)
  • Work closely with analysts to generate successful trading strategies and market insights
  • Contribute to the development of forecasting models and trading tools
  • Maintain strong relationships with colleagues across risk management, operations and analytics
  • Actively identify new opportunities within the UK and European environmental markets
Must Have
  • At least 5 years of experience trading carbon markets or related environmental products, with exposure to EU ETS and UK ETS
  • A proven track record of at least 5 years of profitable active proprietary trading
  • Strong understanding of EU and UK carbon fundamentals, policy developments, compliance cycles, auction dynamics and industrial demand drivers
  • Experience gained within international trading houses, banks, utilities or commodity firms with a focus on fundamentals and policy-driven trading activities
  • Strong numerical, analytical and economic background (degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering or similar)
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work in a high-pressure, fast-moving environment
