You’ll collaborate closely with other carbon consultants and directors, gaining mentorship and exposure to complex projects while playing an essential role in ensuring high-quality, timely client delivery.

Responsibilities

Role Specifics:

  • Full-time, salaried position
  • Remote-first, with occasional in-person meetings or team activities
  • Salary range: $60,000–$75,000 base per year, depending on experience
  • Additional commissions for supporting client renewals and retention success

  • Full professional proficiency or native/bilingual proficiency in English

Goals & Expectations for Success in This Role

To be successful as a Carbon Associate at RyeStrategy, you’ll need to own client deliverables with accuracy, organization, and professionalism, while applying a strong foundation in the GHG Protocol. Expectations include both technical project outcomes and the cross-functional behaviors that drive client trust, collaboration, and impact in a fast-paced sustainability consulting environment.

Carbon Accounting & Project Delivery

  • Accurately manage client data requests, ensuring timely collection, cleaning, and organization of Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions data.
  • Own 3-5 lower-complexity client projects or workstreams within your first 6 months, acting as the primary point of contact and ensuring deliverables meet client expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and well-documented emissions calculations, methodologies, and assumptions in alignment with the GHG Protocol.
  • Track project progress and time allocation in HubSpot, ensuring visibility for leadership, finance and other team contributors.
  • Support client deliverables such as emissions reduction recommendations, reports, and presentations, ensuring outputs are clear, professional, and actionable.

Client Ownership & Collaboration

  • Serve as the day-to-day contact for assigned clients, responding promptly, managing expectations, and escalating challenges when needed.
  • Build trust with clients by delivering clear communication, accurate results, and proactive updates.
  • Collaborate with senior consultants and the Sustainability Director to ensure methodological accuracy and consistency across projects.
  • Partner with the Client Success team to support renewals and retention by maintaining strong client relationships and delivering high-quality outputs.
  • Contribute insights from client projects to internal discussions about service improvements, methodologies, and tools.

Core Value Alignment

  • Solutions-Oriented: You approach client projects as solvable challenges, using creativity and a methodical approach to balance data limitations, client needs, and methodological requirements.
  • Do What We Say: You deliver on project timelines and commitments, keep clients and internal stakeholders informed, and ensure documentation reflects real-time status.
  • People-Focused: You build trust with clients and teammates by listening, clarifying, and aligning around shared goals. You communicate respectfully and professionally, even under pressure.
  • Passion for Our Work: You bring enthusiasm and focus to carbon accounting projects, motivated by the opportunity to help organizations make measurable progress on sustainability goals.
  • Unmatched Customer Advocacy: You embed client needs into your daily work, ensuring that deliverables are accurate, useful, and trusted. You anticipate questions, address concerns, and aim for outcomes that provide real value.
