Band: 7 • Hours: Full-time (24/7 rota) • Location: Brent & Harrow Urgent Care

About you

We’re looking for nurses who are:

  • Qualified RMN with current NMC registration
  • Experienced in working with children, young people, or in acute mental health settings
  • Skilled in risk assessment, crisis de-escalation, and therapeutic engagement
  • Resilient, adaptable, and able to work under pressure
  • Compassionate, family-focused, and committed to delivering outstanding care
Role responsibilities
  • Provide rapid assessments and short-term interventions for children and young people in acute mental health crises
  • Support families and carers to manage risk safely
  • Conduct emergency assessments in A&E and provide 7-day follow-up in community settings
  • Collaborate with the community CAMHS clinic and work in child/young-persons' homes and schools
  • Make autonomous clinical decisions based on complex presentations and available treatment options
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication; apply de-escalation skills with distressed young people
  • Promote nursing excellence through clinical practice, education, and consultancy
  • Provide leadership, case-load management, and training to colleagues; contribute to supervision and跨-team collaboration
Additional information

Good leadership skills are expected as part of the post holder’s duties, including case load management, training other colleagues, clinical supervision of junior staff, and collaboration with other teams and partner agencies in the community.
