About the Role

Lewisham CAMHS is seeking a new CYP-PT training post for the IPTA modality. The post is for a committed and enthusiastic CAMHS practitioner (nurse, social worker, occupational therapist or other professional with CAMHS experience or transferable skills).

Team Structure

The service comprises eight multidisciplinary teams: Core Team (Horizon), Neuro Developmental Team (NDT), Paediatric Liaison Service, SYMBOL Team (Looked After Children), Adolescent Treatment Team, Child Wellbeing Programme, Adolescent Resource and Therapy Service (ARTS) and Mental Health in Schools Team (MHST).

Responsibilities
  • Complete a post‑graduate diploma through University College London while employed in one of our multidisciplinary clinical teams.
  • Carry a clinical caseload and deliver therapy within the IPTA modality.
  • Participate in training: 2.5 days a week of academic work (teaching and personal study) and 2.5 days in service seeing clients for training assignments.
  • Support the core principles of the CYP Psychological Training Programme: Accessibility, Accountability, Participation, Awareness and Evidence‑based practice.
Training Details

The full‑time training will begin in January 2026. You will be both an employee of Lewisham CAMHS and an enrolled student at UCL. Upon completion, trainees will receive a UCL Postgraduate Diploma.

Successful applicants must travel to Anna Freud Hospital in North London (Rodney St, N1 9JH) for teaching during the training year.

Application Process

This dual application involves applying to Lewisham CAMHS and to the UCL course. Applicants must meet university academic requirements and be employed in a Recruit‑to‑Train funded job.

Eligibility and Requirements
  • You must be a CAMHS practitioner with relevant experience (nurse, social worker, occupational therapist or other). Transferable skills are acceptable.
  • Applicants must be ready to start the training by 5 January 2026.
  • Applicants may be required to wait two years after graduation examination board before starting another NHS‑funded course.
