Materials Buyer – House Builder - Berkshire

This busy, high quality residential developer in Berkshire has an immediate requirement for a Materials Buyer to work on a freelance contract basis for a period of 6 months initially.

You will have worked for an established main contractor or residential developer as a Materials Buyer and will be able to pick up current Buyer duties over several new build housing projects.

Highly recognised for building high quality homes in Berkshire and the Southern regions, this medium sized turnover business has numerous new developments starting and seeing sustained success. This is a chance for a Buyer to join on a freelance basis and potentially transfer into a permanent position within the company.

Key duties and tasks you will carry out and be familiar with as a Materials Buyer within the house building sector.

Material Buyer will be.

• Estimating material costs from project plans and drawings.

• Researching suppliers and sourcing new building products.

• Requesting quotes from vendors and subcontractors.

• Scheduling material deliveries and maintaining records.

• Assessing supplier reliability and resolving procurement issues.

• Ensuring materials meet safety, health, and environmental standards.

• Advising on material costs during the tendering process.

• Preparing cost reports to enhance project efficiency.

• Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers after contract approval.
