Our client has an opportunity for a Buyer to join them on a contract basis until June 2026 with the possibility for extension. The role will be based in Filton; it is fully onsite to start, with 60% onsite after the first couple of months. Working 35 hours per week, the pay is £38.74 per hour via an umbrella company and is inside IR35. BPSS clearance is required before starting.
Responsibilities
- Manage strategic Aluminium (Extrusions) suppliers.
- Accountable for delivering MFT projects on time, cost and quality either under his/her leadership in the MFT or by delegation from the MFT leader (PMMA).
- Ensure end‑to‑end management of the Aluminium ConBid Process, the process that controls demand and production across the supply chain.
- Plan and report on projects within the MFT framework to the CSG leader Manager, maintaining financial adherence.
- Support and contribute to the deployment of the commodity strategy (market intelligence, etc.).
- Contribute to company cost‑improvement programmes (e.g. MOVE, A350XWB RC2020+, A330…) by identifying opportunities, establishing road‑maps, coordinating activities and negotiating commercial agreements with impacted programmes and functions.
- Supervise and support Transfer of Work (ToW) activities for the market/suppliers.
- In the frame of MFT, manage risk related to suppliers (financial, strategic, monopoly…) and define appropriate mitigation actions.
- Develop and maintain key supplier and internal stakeholder relations.
- Lead Call for Tenders to ensure business needs, propose supplier selections and coordinate selection reports.
- Lead MFT during the supplier selection process through Call for Tenders managed in MFT.
- Negotiate contract terms and conditions; ensure contract change management supported by the contract manager.
- Conduct supplier contractual review meetings.
- Support and contribute to supplier development initiatives for actual and future supplier performance.
- Define development targets (e.g. cost reduction measures, quality and delivery performance targets).
- Participate in regular supplier reviews/assessments.
- Ensure consistency between contract terms & conditions and the information system (SAP…)
Requirements
- Buyer or supply‑chain experience within manufacturing, aviation or automation.
- Technical knowledge of supply, material, aluminium and metals.
- Understanding of specifications.
- Experience working with international suppliers.
- Experience with SAP.
- Comfortable in complex environments with multiple stakeholders.
- Contract‑management experience.
