Business Development Manager – Paddington

Salary: £30,000 basic plus uncapped commission
Location: Paddington
Region: London

My client is an established construction company who have expanded their business by opening up a new start-up construction company operating as their new subcontractor. The successful candidate will be working hand-in-hand with the director on expanding the business.

Reporting into the Director, the ideal candidate is a pro-active and enterprising individual. The role will require the candidate to look for new opportunities, establish new leads, as well as convert existing leads.

The role will be varied and cover the following responsibilities:

  • Researching new sales avenues, as well as new companies and other contacts
  • Keeping up to date with competitors’ activities and industry news
  • Pitching to potential clients
  • Cold calling
  • Attending events
  • Visiting sites (across the UK) to establish new leads, monitor existing leads, or monitor progress of Company activity on site
  • Maintaining effective working relationships with staff at all levels within the Company and with all sister companies, as well as externally with clients, suppliers, subcontractors, and third parties
  • Leading, motivating, communicating with, developing, appraising, and performance managing staff where management of staff is required
  • Monitoring sales performance and reporting to the director

Mandatory skills and experience include:

  • Prior experience in sales and business development
  • IT skills: competent in Word and Excel
  • Excellent spoken English
  • Having your own car

Availability:

  • Full-time, 9:00-17:00, Monday to Friday
  • Offices based in Paddington (4 minutes’ walk from the station, no parking available)

Remuneration:

  • £30k basic salary
  • Uncapped earnings on typically six-figure sales contracts
