Company Description

Knight Surveys is an independent firm of Chartered Building Surveyors and Valuers based in Leeds, West Yorkshire. We carry out a range of services, including residential home surveys, defect analysis, and commercial/industrial surveys.

The firm has established working relationships with a number of estate agents and solicitors in Yorkshire. Our Clients include private individuals, Local Authorities, Charities, Businesses etc.

Our key focus is on providing high-quality, detailed reports and advice. We frequently receive commissions on complex rural/historic properties and offer a bespoke service designed to address a client’s specific requirements. We also carry out commercial work (Schedules of Dilapidations, Schedules of Condition etc) & Project Management. We have developed working relationships with Architects, Quantity Surveyors and Structural Engineers and can provide multi-disciplinary services.

Since becoming established, the firm have developed their own internal CRM systems and custom-built surveying software to assist in preparing reports. We are dedicated to continued improvement and adopting modern working methods.

Role Description

We are looking for a friendly, pro-active and dedicated Building Surveyor to join our team. The candidate will be undertaking residential surveys on a broad range of building types across Leeds and the surrounding areas (mostly L2 and L3 residential surveys). There will be opportunity to take on an amount of commercial work and project management, if desirable, however, residential surveying will form the majority of the responsibilities.

Ideally the candidate would hold AssocRICS or higher qualification and have experience undertaking residential surveys. Registered Valuer status, if not already achieved, can be worked towards and we will assist you to achieve this.

The team are friendly and supportive. We will be on hand to help and ensure that our staff feel confident and comfortable to undertake their work.

Remuneration

The Salary will range from £35k to £70k OTE – depending on experience and qualifications. A bonus system will be in place to enable staff to increase their earning capacity.

Qualifications
  • Professional membership of RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors), or working towards achieving it, is preferred - AssocRICS or higher ideal
  • RICS Registered Valuer preferred
  • Experience in undertaking residential Building Surveying, Defect Analysis and Valuation
  • Strong attention to detail, technical expertise, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
  • Effective communication and client relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of Building regulations and industry standards
  • Proficiency with computers and relevant software / reporting platforms ideal
  • Driving Licence and own car required
