Brake Press Operator (Aerospace Manufacturing)

Temp to Perm | Site-Based | Middlesex

An established manufacturing business is seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator to support the production of precision-formed components. This role focuses on the forming of aluminium heat‑treated materials and requires a understanding of engineering standards, tight tolerances, and repeatable production processes.

The position will suit a technically competent operator who is confident setting up, programming, and running brake press machinery independently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up, program, and operate brake press machines to form aluminium heat‑treated aerospace components
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and bend data accurately
  • Select appropriate tooling, back gauges, and forming sequences to meet dimensional and quality requirements
  • Develop, edit, and optimise press brake programs to ensure efficient and repeatable production
  • Carry out first‑off inspections and ensure components meet aerospace quality standards
  • Support engineering and estimating teams with costing and feasibility input during quotation stages
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce scrap, improve cycle times, and enhance forming methods
  • Maintain safe working practices in line with HSE requirements
  • Perform routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions relating to forming issues
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 5 years' experience operating brake press machines in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience forming aluminium, ideally including heat‑treated aerospace grades
  • Strong ability to set up machines and write or edit press brake programs independently
  • Experience working to tight tolerances and high‑quality manufacturing standards
  • Ability to read and understand complex aerospace engineering drawings
  • Good understanding of bend allowances, spring‑back, and material behaviour
  • High level of attention to detail with a quality‑focused mindset
