We are looking for a talented Bore Mechanic to join our team in Headingly. Headingly Station is located in the Barkly Group, 200km southwest of Mount Isa and 35km from Urandangie. The property is a breeding station producing cattle for AACo’s Wagyu brands.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Follow work schedules and prepare materials and equipment before starting tasks.
  • Carry out water maintenance for cattle, including pulling bores, installing troughs and sprinkler systems, making engine frames and float guards, putting in new bores, welding, swapping motors, and performing motor repairs.
  • Operate a range of equipment such as trucks, cranes, hand tools, welders, shovels, crowbars, and bobcats.
  • Maintain a safe and efficient workshop and ensure adequate spare bore parts are available for timely repairs.
  • Perform regular servicing and maintenance of bore trucks and cranes.
  • Organise and prioritise tasks to meet deadlines while working under pressure.
  • Check turkey nest levels, fences, troughs, motors, pump jacks, and helical rotors at each bore to ensure water supply levels are correct.
  • Record water levels, cattle numbers at troughs, and maintenance details for fences, troughs, and motors.
  • Maintain bore runner vehicles and report any breakdowns promptly.
Desired Skills and Experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within bore maintenance or mechanical operations.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Current Driver’s Licence and Heavy Rigid (HR) Licence.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all tasks required of a Bore Mechanic.
  • Ability to coordinate daily and weekly work schedules and meet deadlines.
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Additional licences or willingness to obtain (e.g., forklift, confined space, working at heights, first aid).
  • Mechanical knowledge and practical experience (highly desirable).
