Job description

Bioprocessing and Purification Technologies (BPT), the world leader in resin‑based separation, purification and extraction technology, is seeking a Global Process Safety Lead. We manufacture products that help our customers around the globe—primarily in the pharmaceutical and life‑science sectors—with technology critical to the safe manufacture of their products.

As Global Process Safety Lead, you will set and influence the strategic direction of engineering work across multiple plants and manufacturing sites. You will work closely with Global SHE, Process Safety and Sustainability team, the global TPM team, the BPT Engineering Teams, and counsel plant leadership on trends and developments in your area of expertise. This position reports to the Global Director of SHE, Process Safety and Sustainability for BPT. Travel will be required, up to 30 % of the role. The position will ideally be located at one of the BPT manufacturing facilities.

What You’ll Do

• Develop and support implementation of the Process Safety (PS) roadmap for BPT, driving consistency in technology and processes across the global organization.

• Integrate the BPT acquisition into Ecolab, aligning with or exceeding Ecolab corporate and regional Process Safety policies and standards, developing and supporting gap‑closure plans, and working with leaders to identify process safety priorities.

• Ensure that leading and lagging Process Safety metrics are collated, reviewed, and communicated to leadership; provide trend analysis and action recommendations.

• Support site teams in Root‑Cause Analysis (RCA) for Tier 1–3 Process Safety events and SHE incidents, identifying proactive actions to prevent recurrence.

• Coach and guide site teams in Management of Change (MOC), Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), and other components of a sustainable process‑safety management program.

• Provide PS input for capital projects, particularly at the design stage (PHA‑HAZOP); attend Technical Review Board (TRB) and Capital Review Board (CRB) processes.

• Act as a PS subject‑matter expert, providing solutions and technical support based on industry standards and the Recognized And Generally Accepted Good Engineering Practices (RAGAGEP).

• Coordinate with leadership to manage Ecolab Compliance Assessment Process (ECAP) audit findings and support the global ECAP program.

• Keep informed on all relevant regulatory changes, ensuring compliance in areas of safety‑critical equipment.

• Develop and implement process‑safety policies, standards, best practices, and procedures as required.

• Build and maintain relationships with TPM managers and pillar leads across regions, supporting the implementation of SHE and the PM/AM pillars.

• Develop and disseminate new PS best‑practice guidance, leveraging lessons learned as part of the Global Technical Organization (GTO) Process Safety Horizontal Process Network (HPN).

What You’ll Need

• Advanced degree in an engineering discipline (Chemical or Mechanical) with at least 5 years of experience in the chemical industry or a related field.

• Chartered Engineer, Registered Professional Engineer, or currently working toward or imminently planning this designation.

• Proven experience and ability in production, project, or process engineering, administration, and supervision.

• Strong verbal and written communication skills across diverse audiences, from one‑on‑one to large groups.

• Ability to work collaboratively and influence cross‑functional teams within a matrix organization.

• Knowledge of external technical resources in your area of expertise.

• Demonstrated ability to manage large or complex projects through all stages, delegating and holding teams accountable against established parameters.

• Strong computer literacy, ideally with Power BI technical knowledge.
