Job description
Position

Senior Biomedical Scientist in Haematology (Band 7) – Full time, permanent, substantive.

Location

Based at QEQM Margate Hospital, with the possibility of working at alternative sites as required by the service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Day-to-day management of the Haematology laboratory.
  • Report to the Chief Biomedical Scientist.
  • Train staff in all aspects of Haematology, including coagulation and blood film morphology.
  • Participate in the multi‑disciplinary continuous processing pattern (CPP) 24‑7 365, including nights, weekends and bank holidays.
  • Implement service developments and transformation initiatives, maintaining high‑quality targets.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Effective leader with significant Haematology knowledge and experience.
  • Track record of managing staff and laboratory resources.
  • High attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
  • HCPC registered.
  • IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Haematology.
  • WTD (Whole Time Duty) compliant, with willingness to work shifts.
Accreditation

The laboratory is UKAS ISO 15189: 2022 accredited.
