The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and well-structured Biology lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and Key Stage 5, following curriculum guidelines and school policies.
  • Develop schemes of work and lesson plans that promote practical skills, creativity, and an understanding of Biology.
  • Assess, monitor, and report on students' progress, providing constructive feedback to support improvement and achievement. Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including GCSE and A-level.
  • Manage resources, equipment, and materials effectively, ensuring they are well maintained and available for lessons.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including participation in open evenings, parent meetings, and enrichment activities such as cooking clubs or competitions.
  • Support the development of students' independence, confidence, and teamwork through practical activities and projects.
  • Stay up to date with curriculum changes, science trends, and best practices in teaching Biology.
About you

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A specialism in Biology with the ability to teach across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5, GCSE and A level Biology.
  • Experience being an excellent classroom practitioner who can lead by example.
  • Collaborative working practices developed and demonstrable, with the ability to manage change and work under the pressure of changing circumstances.
  • An approachable and supportive disposition, so that pupils are confident that their concerns will be heard and will receive sympathetic treatment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to sustain effective relationships on behalf of the School, both internally and externally.
