Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant (SEMH)

Location: Bilston
Pay: £90–£95 per day
Contract: Full-time

We’re working closely with a welcoming school in Bilston that’s looking for a Behaviour Specialist Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a hands‑on role where relationships come first, and progress follows.

You’ll be supporting students who may find school challenging, helping them feel safe, understood and ready to engage with learning again. It’s about consistency, calm support and celebrating the small wins that add up to big change.

What the role involves
  • Supporting pupils with SEMH needs to regulate behaviour and re‑engage with learning
  • Building strong, positive relationships that encourage trust and stability
  • Providing one‑to‑one and small group support
  • Working closely with teachers and wider support staff to implement behaviour strategies
  • Helping pupils develop confidence, routines and emotional resilience
This role could be a great fit if you
  • Have experience as a Teaching Assistant or supporting young people with SEMH
  • Are confident, patient and comfortable managing challenging behaviour
  • Understand behaviour management strategies, or are keen to learn
  • Bring empathy, resilience and a calm presence to the classroom
  • Have a background in psychology, counselling, social work or a related field (helpful, not essential)
  • Hold Team Teach training, or are open to gaining it
