Position Overview

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking Part-time before-school (16 hours/week) and Per Diem (3 to 15 hours/week) Teacher Assistants for our Newport Family & Child Opportunity Zone (NFCOZ). The NFCOZ provides services and referrals to Newport children and their families in school and community settings, in partnership with Newport Public Schools, parents, and the community.

Responsibilities

Teacher Assistants support Lead Teachers and Program Facilitators in before‑school licensed childcare, after‑school enrichment programs, and school vacation camps, working with students in grades K‑8. The ideal candidates will assist in the supervision of students utilizing a positive approach and will maintain the philosophy and mission of the program.

Qualifications

To meet the educational requirements of this position, the Teacher Assistant must have a High School Diploma or a GED certification, and have either:

  • Formal Training related to child or youth development OR at least one year of supervised experience working with school‑age children in a group setting to assume the role of school‑age staff.

Candidates with associate degree and/or Teacher Assistant Certification are preferred. Candidates who are bilingual in Spanish are strongly encouraged to apply.

Compensation and Benefits

For Part Time Employees Working 16 – 29 hours per week, EBCAP provides a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes a 403(b) retirement plan, generous paid time off that includes vacation and sick time, voluntary medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts, mileage reimbursement, opportunities for center‑paid training/CEU’s, employee assistance program.
