Band 8a Pharmacist – Acute Hospital (Ward-Based)

Location: Lancashire
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 08:45 AM – 17:00 Pm
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Duration: Until 31st December 2025
Employment Type: Full-Time, Onsite Only
Pay Rate: £26.42/hour – Standard, £42.27/hour – Bank Holidays

Job Overview: We are looking for an experienced Band 8a Pharmacist to support an Acute Hospital. This is a ward-based position for 11 weeks, offering the opportunity to contribute to patient care across multiple specialities including the following:

  • General Medicine
  • Surgery
  • Orthopaedics

This is a hands-on clinical role requiring confident decision-making and excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medicines reconciliation
  • Clinical review of patients
  • Making appropriate clinical interventions
  • Processing discharge prescriptions
  • Working with electronic prescribing systems
  • Collaborating closely with ward staff and the wider MDT
Essential Requirements
  • GPhC-registered Pharmacist
  • Previous acute hospital experience (essential)
  • Strong clinical knowledge and ability to work independently
  • Proficient in electronic prescribing and discharge processes
