This role is eligible for visa sponsorship under the UK Visas & Immigration (UKVI) Skilled Worker route; however sponsorship can only be provided where applicants meet the specific requirements set by UKVI, including the relevant skill and salary thresholds (£25,000), and any role‑specific criteria.

Main duties of the job
  • Be responsible as an autonomous practitioner for assessing, diagnosing and providing professional clinical midwifery care to women during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages without referral to a medical practitioner.
  • Ensure referral to the appropriate health professional and work in partnership with that professional to ensure safe standards of care.

Job responsibilities

Patient Care Delivery

  • Take full responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating midwifery care consistent with evidence‑based practice for parents, babies and families.
  • Discuss options and support parents in making an informed choice in their plan of care such as birth plans, pain relief, infant feeding, baby care, return to work and family planning.
  • Discuss options and support parents in making an informed choice in the period following birth.
  • Analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of such care, making necessary modifications of any midwifery care pathway and giving professional advice and support as required.
  • Act as the client’s advocate and empower them to promote their own health and well‑being.
  • Respect the need for privacy and dignity and obtain client’s informed consent throughout the childbirth continuum.
  • Refer clients to other practitioners (e.g. senior midwife, obstetrician, physiotherapist and paediatrician) when needs and risks are beyond the post holder’s scope of practice or require specialist input.

Experience/ Qualifications
  • Qualified Midwife – NMC registered
  • Current UK Driving Licence
  • Post Registration Practice
  • Completion of a Preceptorship Programme within the NHS/equivalent system
  • 997/8 Mentorship Module or Equivalent
  • Band 6 Experience
  • Degree in Neonatal Advanced Life Support (NALS) / Advanced Life Support Obstetrics (ALSO) or equivalent
  • LEO Child Protection Course
