Job description

As a Staff Nurse, you will play an essential role in delivering high-quality nursing care, building therapeutic relationships, and supporting service users to achieve their goals. You will work as part of a skilled and supportive multi‑disciplinary team, where your ideas, professional growth and wellbeing are valued. On a day‑to‑day basis, the role involves working with registered nurses and the wider multi‑disciplinary team to assess, plan, organise and deliver clinical care in line with service needs and service‑users’ mental and physical health needs, as agreed with supervising clinicians. Working hours will involve shifts, including some nights, weekends and bank holidays. As a Nursing Associate on in‑patients, your responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities
  • Providing compassionate, safe and effective care and support to service‑users to improve and maintain their mental, physical and behavioural health and wellbeing.
  • Monitoring the condition and contributing to the ongoing assessment of the health needs of service‑users on a continual basis in partnership with other professionals, families, and carers.
  • Using knowledge and experience to make evidence‑based decisions and solve problems.
  • Communicating effectively with colleagues as an active member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Providing training and support to healthcare assistants and other staff as required.
  • Be registered as a Nursing Associate with the NMC.
  • Have NHS experience.
  • Previous experience of working within a health/care setting, understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in the context of the team and the organisation, and how the role contributes to service development.
  • Understand the roles of a range of professionals and carers from other organisations and settings who may be participating in the care of a person and their family.
  • Understand responsibilities in relation to communication and collaboration.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Educated to a minimum Level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice.
  • GCSEs Grade A–C in Maths and English or equivalent.
Qualifications
  • Band 4 Registered Nursing Associate who would like to start their career on an inpatient unit or would like a fresh challenge working in an acute setting.
  • Registered Nursing Associate on the NMC register.
  • At least a Level 5 Foundation degree level specific to nursing associate practice.
  • Previous experience of working in a care setting would be an advantage, as would an interest in mental health.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills, the ability to think quickly and act calmly and sensibly, and an understanding of relational security.
  • Prepared to model and promote the Trust's values at all times.
  • Appropriate UK professional registration.
Desirable Criteria
  • QCF in Care/Health and Social Care Level 2/3 or equivalent experience.
