Role purpose

To be a Physiotherapy assistant working to assist the Physiotherapist in the therapeutic management of patients for the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust Hospital (RBFT).

Responsibilities
  • Under supervision to facilitate and participate in ongoing patient treatment.
  • To work effectively as a team member in carrying out, under direction, exercise and mobility programmes.
  • To participate in providing a high quality, effective and efficient physiotherapy service.
  • Under supervision of a Physiotherapist, provide a range of activities, instructing and guiding patients, individually or in groups, to support them in achieving identified goals and promoting independence.
  • To undertake delegated tasks to contribute to the safe and smooth running of the service, including clerical and housekeeping tasks.
Qualifications
  • Education to GCSE level including English and Maths.
  • IT skills, including e-mail
  • Some knowledge of physiotherapy
Desirable criteria
  • Previous experience of health or social care setting
  • Experience of working with members of the public
  • Some understanding of hospital working, experience of caring role(s)
  • NHS experience
