Job description

Job Purpose

Support the development of MTC’s BI Hub and data infrastructure:

  1. Assist requirements gathering, problem solving, data modelling, design, creation, testing, and user/colleague guidance for the established BI hub and MTC’s data infrastructure.
  2. Focus on creating and maintaining data models, data pipelines, data processing, and data integration to enable Application Owners to create PowerBI reports, all based within the Microsoft Azure cloud platform.
  3. Support and further develop an established business intelligence data infrastructure.

Communication

This role requires extensive verbal and written communication skills:

  1. Engage with end users at all levels in non-technical terms.
  2. Collaborate with members and management of MTC business functions with ownership in software products.
  3. Work with Information Systems colleagues, especially project managers and architects.
  4. Manage communications to the entire MTC business, in collaboration with the Internal Communications department.

Innovation

Identify how unique end user requirements can be met using standard software solutions, focusing on solutions that add minimal complexity and support overhead. Engage in problem solving, troubleshooting, and identifying ways to prevent or mitigate repeat issues through monitoring and out-of-the-box software solutions.

Knowledge

Possess broad knowledge and experience with various Microsoft Business Intelligence tools, including Fabric, Data lakes (BYDL 2.0), Synapse, Data Factory, DevOps (data pipelines), Purview, CDM Utility, Event Grid, Serverless SQL pools, Dedicated SQL pools, PowerBI (admin, apps, pipelines).

Effective communication skills at different levels, including individual users, managers, and companywide audiences.

Knowledge of D365 Finance, Project Operations, Sales, Customer Insights, including custom entities and data structures, is preferred.

Ability to create, review, and manage high-quality functional documentation, with strong business analysis skills to ensure knowledge retention within the Enterprise Applications department.

Capability to liaise with third parties and implement necessary changes. An ITIL foundation qualification is desirable.
