Autism Support Worker Champion Neurodiversity

Location: London Colney
Start Date: ASAP / February 2026
Contract: Temporary to Permanent
Pay: From £85 per day

Supply Desk is recruiting an Autism Support Worker to support pupils with ASD in a welcoming and inclusive primary school in London Colney. This is an exciting opportunity to champion neurodiversity and make a tangible difference in children s educational and personal development.

The Role
  • Support pupils with autism both in and out of the classroom
  • Encourage communication, social interaction, independence, and emotional regulation
  • Implement structured routines, personalized strategies, and positive behaviour support plans
  • Assist with transitions, group activities, and one-to-one interventions
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other staff to monitor progress and contribute to Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • Support pupils during lunch, break times, and school trips
The Ideal Candidate
  • Experience supporting children with autism
  • Calm, patient, consistent, and empathetic approach
  • Strong understanding of autism-specific strategies, communication tools, and sensory needs
  • Able to build trusting relationships with pupils, families, and school staff
  • Holds an enhanced DBS or is willing to apply for one
  • Proactive, adaptable, and committed to championing neurodiversity
