Job summary

A healthcare organization in Greater London is offering an exciting opportunity in Haematology & Blood Transfusion. The role requires a team player with an IBMS accredited BSc degree, flexibility, and a positive attitude to work in a busy Blood Sciences Laboratory. Responsibilities include routine pathology work, specimen processing, and providing clerical support. Prior experience in a laboratory setting is preferred, and the role requires the ability to complete the IBMS Registration Portfolio within two years. Qualifications

Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Haematology & Blood Transfusion within the NHS East and South East London Pathology Partnership (ESEL). We are looking for a strong team player with a positive attitude, who can work flexibly on an Agenda for Change shift system while supporting clinical services and meeting patient needs.

Responsibilities
  • Participate as part of a busy Blood Sciences Laboratory team to undertake routine pathology work and provide general laboratory assistance.
  • Receipting and processing of diagnostic specimens, including pre‑analytical processing and analyser operation.
  • Use laboratory IT to input and extract information, ensuring accurate data management.
  • Perform basic laboratory procedures and troubleshooting tasks.
  • Carry out clerical work, including checking stocks and supplies, to support Biomedical Scientists.
  • Follow standard operating procedures to maintain good laboratory practice.
  • Provide a helpful and professional service to all visitors and telephone callers.
  • Attend any Trust site required to fulfil duties within this role.
Qualifications

Must hold an IBMS accredited BSc degree. Candidates must be able to complete the IBMS Registration Portfolio and apply for the IBMS Certificate of Competence within 24 months. Experience in a similar laboratory environment is preferred. Strong educational background and professional competence in Hematology, Blood Transfusion or a related field are required.
