Job description

Lewis Davey are excited to be working with a leading sustainability consultancy in seeking a Sustainability Consultant at the Associate or Principal level with a strong focus on energy to join their team in either the Bournemouth or Reading office.This opportunity sits within a dynamic, multidisciplinary sustainability group known for its industry-leading work in sustainable design, construction, and building operation. The team provides strategic sustainability consultancy across a wide range of sectors and is deeply engaged in driving best practices for sustainable development.Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead delivery on large-scale sustainability and energy-focused projects for high-profile clients.
  • Manage project resources, prioritise team tasks, and coordinate effectively with wider project leads.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior team members.
  • Oversee and review work produced by colleagues, ensuring high standards and accuracy.
  • Prepare fee proposals, manage budgets, and support invoicing processes.
  • Conduct and lead client and design team workshops, clearly communicating technical information and strategies.
  • Deliver and oversee technical modelling and analysis such as:
    • Embodied carbon calculations
    • Circular economy opportunities
    • Building performance simulations
    • Operational energy assessments
    • On-site energy generation evaluations
    • Overheating and thermal comfort risk assessments
  • Develop and deliver integrated sustainability and energy strategies from early design through completion.
  • Manage environmental assessments such as BREEAM, WELL, HQM, etc.
  • Champion net zero and whole life carbon approaches across project portfolios.
  • Contribute to internal research and innovation to support continued leadership in the field.
About You:The successful candidate will bring a combination of technical expertise, practical consultancy experience, and a passion for advancing sustainability in the built environment. Ideally, they will have:
  • Strong knowledge in areas such as:
    • Energy strategy development
    • Building Regulations compliance (e.g. PassivHaus, Part L using IES or Elmhurst)
    • In-use energy assessment
    • Overheating and thermal modelling
    • Net zero carbon planning
    • Supporting planning submissions
  • A degree in a relevant sustainability or engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in the built environment sector, ideally within a sustainability or engineering consultancy setting.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
  • A drive to make a measurable difference through sustainable solutions.
